We provide high quality healthcare services primarily to the residents of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, which have a combined population in the region of 530,000.
The Stroke Therapy Team provides specialist stroke services to adults within the acute, rehabilitation setting at both Royal Blackburn Hospital and Pendle Community Hospital. The East Lancashire community stroke team provides rehabilitation for patients within their own homes.
The community stroke team offers group therapy sessions at Pendle Community Hospital. These
The groups are for patients who have problems with balance and difficulties with their upper limb function.
Hydrotherapy sessions are also offered at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Our services are delivered by specialist physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapists and are supported by trainee and assistant practitioners. The community stroke team also has access to a neuro Psychologist.
The Team work closely with the nursing and medical teams and most referrals are received from the in-patient settings however patients can be referred to us by Consultants, GPs and Social Services.

The Main Stroke Therapy Department at Pendle Community Hospital operates between Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.30pm - 01282 803643.
The acute inpatient service operates between Monday to Saturday, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm for patients admitted with a diagnosis of Stroke – 01254 732153.
The inpatient rehabilitation service operates between Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm - 01282 803643.
