Shafiq Sadiq
Armed Forces Veteran Advocate for East Lancashire Hospital Trust.
This is a role Sid has now been in for 2 years, and one that he is proud to have been appointed to. Sid served in the Amy for 22 years and his primary role was a Medical Practice Manager.
The Army was very good in training people to undertake dual roles so as well as being a Practice Manager he was also qualified as a Medic, a Dental Nurse and in a more combat role I was Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Warfare Instructor. During his 22 years he was based in many places and was deployed on 3 operational tours – Bosnia, Sierra Leone & Iraq.
Since retiring from the Army, Sid has undertaken a whole host of job roles including a radio presenter with his own 2-hour radio show broadcast around the world (BFBS), a Landscape Gardiner through to being a house husband taking care of his 2 daughters whilst his wife continued her military career.
More recently Sid started employment with ELHT in 2019 as Admin & Operational support for Intensive Home Support Service (IHSS) & Covid Virtual Ward, a community-based team. IHSS provides a virtual ward for the community patients ultimately avoiding admissions to hospital. It played a key role during the pandemic providing clinical support for all those that were Covid positive. He now provides much needed support for the Armed Forces Community in east Lancashire.
