Background
Mr Rao is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with specialist interest in head and neck skin cancer, aesthetic and facial plastic surgery. He has other interests in facial trauma and deformity.
He is dual qualified with dental (BChD Leeds) and medical (MBChB Manc) degrees. He undertook specialist training in the North West of England acquiring Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (MFDS, FRCS(OMFS)), and a UK Fellowship in Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery. He is dual registered with both General Dental and Medical Councils, and on the UK Specialist Register for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is working towards voluntary UK accreditation in cosmetic surgery.
As an enthusiastic medical and dental educator, he acquired a PGDip in Clinical Education (Edge Hill Univ) and is a recognised trainer by the GMC. He delivers training for UG students and PG trainees, and is one of five Training Programme Directors (TPD) for Dental Core Training (DCT), in the North West of England for NHSE (WT&E).
