At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for all our patients. We aim to ensure the best clinical outcomes and deliver an excellent experience throughout your healthcare journey.
To deliver safe, personal, and effective care, it's essential that we have the right team in place at all times. This means having the right number of people, with the appropriate skills, in the right location.
As part of this assurance, we closely monitor the number of registered nurses on duty in every ward and assess the level of nursing expertise needed to meet patients' needs.
We use a national, validated nursing workforce tool called the Safer Nursing Care Tool. which helps us determine the safe staffing levels for different wards based on the type and level of care patients are expected to need.
In addition to this, we value the professional judgment of our experienced nurses, who know their wards and patients' needs well. To maintain the highest standards of care, we also regularly monitor patient outcomes and quality indicators. These insights are reviewed during our twice-yearly workforce evaluations and whenever we reassess staffing levels.
It’s important to note that our ward care teams include not only registered nurses but also other skilled individuals who work closely together to provide you with the best care possible.
