What is an Orthosis?
An Orthosis is an external device used to support, align, reduce or correct deformities.
Why are repairs to my footwear important?
Keeping your shoes in a good state of repair is important because:
- The footwear can continue to protect your feet effectively
- We can monitor the condition of your footwear and make adjustments to your prescription (if needed)
What if I want to use a private service for my repairs?
You are able to use private services for footwear repairs. We advise however that if your footwear has sole adaptions to use the repair service by the Orthotics department. This is to ensure that these adaptions are correct.
How will I know when my footwear needs to be repaired?
It is important to check the condition of your footwear on a regular basis for signs of wear and/or damage.
Our checklist will help you to decide if your shoes need to be repaired.
Your repair checklist
- Is there excessive wear on the bottom of the shoe?
- Is one side of the heel worn down much more than the other side
- Do the linings inside the shoe have no rips or tears in them?
- Is there any rips to the material on the top of the insoles?
- Is the upper of the shoe excessively tilted to one side?
- Are there any rips to the leather?
- Are there any rips or lumps inside the shoes where the toes sit?
I think my footwear needs to be repaired. How do I do this?
Please bring your footwear in a plastic bag with you details written on a label. You can bring your goods to our departments for repair during the opening times shown on this leaflet.
