An Orthosis is an external device used to support, align, reduce or correct deformities.

Your orthotist will have discussed with you why they feel over-the-counter orthotics might help with your condition. These devices can help to

  • Protect your skin from callousing
  • Relieve pain
  • Reduce rubbing from your footwear

Gel insoles can help protect the bottoms of your feet and offer cushioning to the balls of your feet as you walk.

Bunion protectors are used to protect the skin from rubs when you wear footwear.

Gel heel cushions protect your heel. They can be used to increase shock absorption when your heel hits the ground when walking.

Toe protectors or toe caps are used to protect the end of your second, third, fourth and fifth toes. You wear the caps on the toes that are symptomatic.
