What we do
The Integrated Eye Service provides an extensive range of eye services for both adults and children.
We provide a range of services for all local residents and people from further a field who choose to be treated by our department.
All our consultants are experts in their fields of ophthalmology and undertake all types of eye surgery.
They are all assisted by a team of doctors and nurses who all pride themselves on the delivery of the very best quality patient care.
Our main focus is the treatment and care of NHS patients with a wide range of eye problems, from common eye complaints to more specialised eye complaints which need expert care.
All planned surgery is undertaken at Burnley General Teaching Hospital in two dedicated eye theatres.
We accept emergency referrals from Opticians, GP’s, the Urgent Care and Minor Injuries Units and the Emergency Department (A&E)
All inpatient and day case surgery services take place via Ophthalmology day case unit, area 4, level 2, Fairhurst Building, Burnley General Teaching Hospital.
