The aim of the Upper Gastrointestinal Rapid Diagnostic Service is to ensure that all patients referred by a GP to gastroscopy who are suitable for nurse-led care receive a telephone safety assessment and suitable investigations are arranged in an appropriate time frame with prompt communication of the results as appropriate.
