When you are told you have cancer the feeling leaves you numb but the care and attention I received was second to none - from the admissions team through to anaesthetics and then recovery. "As an in-patient on ward B14 for 5 days; I received an outstanding level of care. Every individual not only demonstrated professionalism in both nursing and cleaning but each of them took the time to treat me as an individual and listen to my needs. Every single staff member on B14 was consistently genuine in their care 24 hours a day. It’s the first time Ive experienced a public sector environment with such a client centred culture – and when considered against the challenges of PPE and a busy ward, it makes their dedication even more amazing. It was clear that they work together as a great well organised and caring team and although I was very nervous going in; when I came out, I was actually a little sad to say goodbye and for someone who has been in hospital too often over the last few years that’s an amazing turnaround!
