A team of 24 ELHT&Me supporters met at Towneley Park in Burnley on Sunday 21 July, and joined thousands of fellow runners to complete the ‘Run for All’ Burnley 10k.

#TeamELHTandMe included Fundraising Manager Denise Gee, Community Fundraiser Emma Heinicke, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust staff and charity supporters, and many members were first-time 10k runners.

All of the team completed the race within one hour 35 minutes, and received ELHT&Me and Burnley 10k medals. The fastest member of #TeamELHT&Me, Toby Campbell, finished the run in 39 minutes, in 18th place, and many of his teammates achieved their personal best time.

Prior to the race, Councillor Anne Kelly, the Mayor of Burnley, wished the team luck and posed for pictures, as ELHT&Me is the Mayor’s chosen charity for this year. Her son, Rick, and his partner Michelle, ran in aid of the Mayor’s charity appeal, as Councillor Kelly has pledged to donate £25,000 to ELHT&Me for diagnostic equipment during her mayoral term.

Starting at Towneley Park at 9:30am, the team ran along the bottom of the Park’s Events Triangle, and followed the causeway out of the park, along Todmorden Road. They then crossed Harry Potts Way at Turf Moor, and followed Belvedere Road to the fire station before turning into Thompson Park.

The course followed the Park’s pathways, and runners then left Thompson Park at Queen Victoria Road, and up Queens Park Road. Eventually meeting Belvedere Road again, runners returned to Towneley Park for the final stretch to the finish line.

The team have raised over £2,500 so far, and there’s still time to donate! Visit www.elht.nhs.uk/charity/campaigns/burnley-10k and chose the team member’s fund you’d like to contribute to – all donations will go towards improving patient experience across East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
