Interim Chief Executive Martin Hodgson was delighted to present the latest Employee of the Month award to Shamin Ghodiwala, a Health Care Assistant on Ward C3.
Shamim was nominated by Michelle Ringland, following her mother Betty’s stay at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. Michelle described Shamim as “exceptional” and praised her care.
“Shamim was simply superb, not just with my mother but with the other patients on the ward. Her attention to detail was refreshing and it was her simple actions that matter the most which made her stand out.
“Wiping a patient's face to make sure it didn’t get sore, taking time to listen and talk to one lady when she had something to say, making sure that patients all had something to eat that they enjoyed - she even went down to the kitchen to get bananas for my mum when it was all that she would eat.”
Michelle shared that despite the pressures the team were experiencing, she noticed that Shamim took the time to explain things to patients and cared for them as individuals, never rushing them.
“These actions made sure that the patients were calm and comfortable. She really does stand out in a crowd.”
“I am absolutely delighted to have received such fantastic feedback about Shamim”, said Chief Executive, Martin Hodgson, whilst presenting the award to Shamim.
“Her nomination shows that she embodies the Trust values through her work, treating patients as individuals and going the extra mile to make them feel comfortable. I am so proud to have her as a member of our ELHT family.”
