Neil Riding, Theatre Support Worker at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, was nominated for going above and beyond by ensuring patient safety and constantly providing support to junior and senior members of the team.
He received his award from Interim Chief Executive Martin Hodgson.
Neil, who has been at the Trust for over 10 years, was commended for his contribution to providing safe, personal and effective care, as well as ensuring theatre kit is available and in good working order for all patients.
Team manager Nicole Dewhurst nominated Neil and said: “Neil tailors care to each and every individual patient and is passionate about providing high standards - especially for the Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck and Maxillofacial teams.
“When necessary, Neil swaps his off duty and picks up extra shifts to ensure we have a safe laser theatre, allowing our patients to get their surgery. His attention to detail and knowledge of our microscope has helped prevent the cancellation of major head and neck surgery.”
Martin Hodgson said “It was great to hear the positive impact Neil has on his service, colleagues and patients and present him with the Employee of the Month Award for March. I feel very strongly about staff upholding the Trust’s values through professional and safe care and Neil continues to do this for his department. Neil constantly acts with integrity and has clear passion for his role. He is well respected amongst colleagues and respects everyone individually across Trust.
“A huge well done on being awarded Employee of the Month and long may your positive contributions continue.”
