A patient at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital has received a very special message from her ultimate hero, Sir Cliff Richard.

Staff and family members sent out a plea on social media asking for Cliff to send a video message to biggest fan, Pauline Martin.

The Facebook post had over 1,000 shares from people hoping to make Pauline’s dream come true with the hashtag #FindCliff

Pauline, who has been to over one hundred of Cliff’s concerts, was overjoyed to hear the pop legend’s personal message: “Hi Pauline, I hear you have a cardboard cut-out of me by your bed which I am absolutely thrilled about. Thank you for supporting me, I love you,” said Cliff Richard on his message.

Staff Nurse, Lucy Morris and Healthcare Assistant Lucy  Mason came up with the idea of finding Cliff for Pauline after seeing her cardboard cut-out and talking with her about her Cliff Richard memorabilia: “We both said wouldn't it be lovely if we could get him to send her a message. And then we spoke to her family and they loved the idea – so we just went for it! All the staff were in tears when we finally showed Pauline the message. She hasn't stopped watching it since! Her family are made up.”

Pauline, aged 70, was shown the message at her bedside on an iPad surrounded by her family and nursing staff: “I just can’t believe it!”
