At a time when NHS services and practices have transformed significantly to fight the Covid-19 virus, there is one tradition that East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is still keeping up with.

The ‘Employee of the Month’ accolade has been awarded at the Trust for a number of years. Taking the time to say thank you or to recognise when someone has done a good job is really important, and perhaps more significant during these challenging times. Our Employee of the Month programme is designed to help celebrate success across the organisation and to recognise people who display our values. And the award for April goes to Abbie Feboul, Administrative Support for the Pain Management Service at Burnley General Teaching Hospital.

Kate Quinn, Operational Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development for ELHT explained why the award is important.

“We highly value all of our staff and this is just one way that we can show our appreciation to our colleagues. In these strange times we find ourselves in, it is more important than ever to ensure that our staff feel valued.

“I was delighted to be able to give this award to Abbie who was nominated by her clinical colleagues. Abbie always has a smile on her face and is dedicated to providing high quality care to our highly distressed patients. She works extremely hard and goes above and beyond her duties to ensure patients feel valued and listened to, which is reflected in patient feedback. She also carries out a considerable amount of charity work in her own time”

Abbie also commented “I never expected to be ever nominated let alone win ‘Employee of the Month’. I am speechless! We are team and we all have our part to play. I am just so pleased that I can help make a difference to our patients and the team.”

Well done Abbie!

Abbie will join other worthy winners for the converted ‘Employee of the Year’ award as part of the annual STAR awards ceremony.
