Blackburn Rovers dedicated their match against Barnsley on Saturday 23 November to East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust’s official charity, ELHT&Me, one of their official chosen charities for the 2019-20 season.
ELHT&Me is the charity that provides support, above and beyond the NHS standard, at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, as well as Burnley General Teaching Hospital and community hospitals in Accrington, Clitheroe and Pendle. The charity raises funds for equipment, projects and initiatives that improve patient experience across East Lancashire.
The charity’s player ambassador, Darragh Lenihan, played his first game in almost two months after injuring his knee. Rovers’ move up a place in the Championship Table to 17th place after winning the game with a score of 3 -2.
ELHT&Me held a bucket collection in the grounds prior to the game, and hosted an awareness stall in the FanZone. Hundreds of staff and their families attended the game with proceeds from those tickets all going to ELHT&Me. The Rovers team warmed-up in ELHT&Me t-shirts, and at half-time Director of Communications and Engagement, Christine Hughes, and the charity’s mascot ELMORE, made an appearance on the pitch.
“From conception all though life we all turn to our local hospital”, said Christine. “ELHT&Me, your hospital charity, is delighted to have been chosen by Darragh Lenihan and Blackburn Rovers.
“Please help us make a difference, above and beyond the NHS standard, every day in your local hospital. We have never needed your support more to make the patient experience even better!”
