My name is Dominic and prior to joining the ELHT Kickstart scheme l had attended college and gained a qualification in IT. l then undertook a 1-year apprenticeship in a pet shop. When Covid hit l worked as a Covid Swabber on a zero-hour contract whilst looking for meaningful full-time employment.
I contacted the Princes Trust for support to help build my skills. They informed me of the ELHT Kickstart positions and l was immediately interested and attended a Teams interview and was thrilled to be offered a placement with the admin team in Radiology.
Staff at the Princes Trust and ELHT guided me through the 
NHS recruitment process and l commenced my Kickstart placement in February 2022. I was initially very nervous joining such a large organisation, however the whole Radiology team welcomed me and have been really supportive throughout my placement building my skills and confidence.
I have experienced working across multiple sites, and everyone has been so friendly. I couldn’t wait for the next shift and could always ask for help when required.
Whilst l was on placement a full-time vacancy for Radiology Receptionist/Administration officer became available, l applied and thanks to the knowledge l have built was successful in securing the role.
