The Trust’s latest Employee of the Month award has been secured by Staff Nurse Lucy Morris and Healthcare Assistant Lucy Mason.
The two Lucy’s, who work on Ward C7 at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, were nominated by colleagues for going “above and beyond their duty” to secure a special message from Sir Cliff Richard for a fan under their care.
Patient Pauline Martin, who has seen more than 100 of Sir Cliff’s concerts, was overjoyed to receive a personal video message from her pop star hero after the two staff made a social media plea to contact him, under the hashtag #FindCliff.
In response, Sir Cliff was quick to use the power of social media to send a personal ‘thank you’ message to a delighted Pauline.
ELHT Chief Executive Kevin McGee presented the July Employee of the Month award to the compassionate pair, who were described by colleagues as ‘true advocates of patient centred care.’
“These two ladies went to great lengths to make this particular patient very happy,” said Kevin.
“Pauline couldn’t believe it and her family were so touched with the effort the two Lucy’s had put in to making their relative so joyful. This was a double effort from two staff who fully deserve to receive the Employee of the Month award.”
