East Lancashire invited to put the kettle on and say ‘thank you’ to the NHS
The NHS is turning 70 this year and what better way to celebrate one of the nation’s most loved institutions than with a cup of tea.
And communities across East Lancashire are being encouraged to join in the NHS’s 70th birthday celebrations by taking part in the ’NHS Big7Tea’.
This will be more than just a regular brew. On and around 5 July, people up and down the country will get together to raise a cuppa to our beloved NHS and raise funds for NHS charities. Don’t worry if you’re busy on 5 July, choose a time date and date that suit’s you and your friends.
“Over the last 70 years the NHS has transformed the health and wellbeing of the nation and become the envy of the world,” said East Lancashire Hospitals’ Director of Communications, Christine Hughes.
“And helping behind the scenes are more than 250 dedicated NHS charities, including our official East Lancashire Hospitals charity, ELHT&Me.”
Whether supporting research and development, brightening up hospital environments, providing state-of-the-art technologies and equipment or supporting staff, ELHT&Me helps the NHS to go above and beyond.
The NHS has touched us all and NHS Big 7Tea is a chance to celebrate and say thank you,” added Christine Hughes.
“Across the UK people are organising tea parties and many are choosing an NHS charity to support.”
“We want communities from Blackburn across to Barnoldswick, the Ribble Valley down to Rossendale to join in, enjoy their favourite brew and raise funds for their local hospital charity, ELHT&Me.
You might want to invite your friends to a street party, brew up for your family, crack open the staff room tea bags, or commandeer the local village hall.
So why not dig out your finest tea set, invite your friends and neighbours and join in. To register for a support pack and for ideas and advice on how to arrange an NHS Big7Tea event, go to www.elht.nhs.uk/elht-and-me-charity/about-us/big7tea
