NHS East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is seeking the views of people who use, or have used the East Lancashire Fracture Liaison service.
This is to ensure that the CCG commissions (buys) the right services for those who need and use this service. It will help patients get the most out of the service and help services to see where improvements can be made.
The Fracture Liaison Service provides bone health assessments to anyone over 50 who breaks (fractures) a bone following a simple trip or fall, as this can be an indication of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis increases the risk of further fractures. The service aims to prevent further such fractures by providing advice, support, and interventions where needed.
East Lancashire CCG is responsible for commissioning (buying) health care services on behalf of local people and it is reviewing the service as part of its ongoing work to ensure that it is meeting the needs of patients who use it. The CCG commissions East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust to deliver this service to patients living in East Lancashire.
Dr Santhosh Davis, local GP and Integrated Care Lead at the CCG said:
“Our overarching aim is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes and the quality of care for our population. We have a unique opportunity, in undertaking these service reviews to do so in partnership with patients and the public. By listening to people’s views about the fracture liaison service we can use this information to develop and improve them to better meet the needs of patients.
“We are asking people, about their experiences and views of the fracture liaison service as part of a wider stakeholder engagement campaign called ‘Your Services, Your Say’.”
People who have used this are encouraged to submit their views on the following three questions:
1. What do you like about the service?
2. What, if anything could we do better?
3. Is there anything else you would like to tell us about the service?
