What First Aid Training and Mental Health Training, if any, do you provide to your staff?

Training	Provider
First Aid Training	Local college, whilst there is no contractual arrangement in place, the Trust has identified Blackburn and Burnley Colleges as its training course provider for first aid practitioner training, however, there is no huge demand for this training given the nature of our business i.e. healthcare whereby when assessing first aid provision, special consideration is given to the presence of medical doctors and nurses on site. The knowledge, skills and experience of the following persons qualifies them to administer first aid in the workplace; · doctors registered with the General Medical Council · nurses registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and · paramedics registered with the Healthcare Professions Council. In addition, attendance on a basic life support course provides an appropriate level of knowledge for a person to be deemed as an ‘appointed person’ and as such, all clinical staff within the Trust are classified as appointed persons are they are required to successfully complete a basic life support course as part of their core and statutory training which is delivered in house.
Mental Health first aid training - Adult	ELHT Staff who are certified MHFA Trainers deliver the MHFA training to staff.
Understanding and Working with Suicide Risk face to face training	In-house - Trust chaplain

We need to talk about suicide e-Learning package	Hosted via AICC link on Trust Learning Management System to the e-Learning for Healthcare platform
Delirium or dementia e-Learning	In-house developed e-Learning available on Trust Learning Management System
Understanding dementia face to face training	In-house delivered by Dementia Specialist Nurse
Virtual dementia tour face to face training	In-house delivered by Dementia Specialist Nurse
Mindfulness training	In-house (Occupational Health and Wellbeing team)
Mental Health 1:1 training for Health Care Assistants face to face	In-house

Additionally, staff have access to a variety of mental health resources via our Learning Management System i.e. links to Every Mind Matters, Hub of Hope website, Employee Assist confidential assistance for Trust employees

The current provider of First Aid Training and Mental Health Training to your staff and contract expiry date

We do not have a contract with a provider for first aid training. However, staff who are identified as requiring first aid training are directed to local colleges such as Burnley College and Blackburn College.

The mental Health Training provided at ELHT is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) this is delivered by ELHT staff who are certified MHFA Trainers.
