At ELHT, we’re committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone—patients, visitors, and colleagues alike. This means building a culture where every person feels valued, respected, and supported, regardless of background or identity.
In response to recent events, and the unsettling rise of racism and discrimination in our communities, we’re taking bold steps to ensure that ELHT is a place where equality and inclusion thrive. Our Trust is launching a anti-racism campaign to directly address these issues, and we want to reassure our patients and community that this is a key priority for us.
Over the coming weeks, as part of our colleague ELHT Big Get Together, we’ll be hosting events, training, and discussions aimed at promoting understanding, allyship, and active steps to stand against racism. We want everyone to feel safe, cared for, and treated with dignity in our hospitals and healthcare settings.
This commitment doesn’t just stop with our colleagues; it extends to all those we care for. Racism, discrimination, and inappropriate behaviour—whether directed at our colleagues or fellow patients—will not be tolerated. Our zero-tolerance policy is in place to protect everyone, ensuring that no one feels unsafe in our care.
We encourage our patients and community members to support this work by engaging with the content we share across our digital platforms and being part of the positive change. Together, we can make ELHT a place where kindness, respect, and equality are not just ideals but a lived reality for everyone.
There is always more that brings us together than will ever set us apart.
Thank you for your support.
