This service is available outside in-patient working hours ie after 4.30pm until the following day at 8am including Weekends and Bank Holidays. The emergency on-call Respiratory Physiotherapy Service provides emergency respiratory physiotherapy for patients who fall into specific criteria for need.
Nursing and Medical Staff can call for assistance outside of normal service provision hours, which will result in a Physiotherapist coming into the hospital from home.
The rota and staff training for this service is led by the Clinical Lead for Critical Care, supported by Senior Respiratory Physiotherapists within the acute Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Department at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
A Physiotherapy Respiratory Service is available over 24 hours, 365 days per year.
To contact the emergency On-Call Physiotherapist, Nursing and Medical Staff should phone switchboard, who have access to the telephone numbers of the Physiotherapist on-call at the time it is required.
