Outside in-patient working hours between 8:00-16.30 Monday to Friday, and Weekends and Bank Holidays, there is an on-call Respiratory Physiotherapy Service who provide emergency respiratory physiotherapy for patients who fall into the specific criteria for need.
Nursing and Medical Staff can call for assistance outside of normal service provision hours, which will result in a Physiotherapist coming into the hospital from home.
The rota and staff training for this service is led by the Clinical Lead for Critical Care, Surgery and Vascular and is based within the Therapy Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
A rota is in place across the whole of the Physiotherapy Service.
A Physiotherapy Respiratory Service is available over 24 hours, 365 days per year.
