If you're overweight, losing weight has many health benefits. Making small, simple changes to what and how much you are eating and drinking, and how much you exercise, can really help you lose the pounds! Join our challenge and raise money to help enhance patient and staff experience at your local hospital, by asking friends and family to sponsor you on your weight loss journey.
Make sure you’re using approved guidance to help make positive changes and lose weight! The NHS Better Health and Live Well websites have lots of information and resources to support you. And of course, being sponsored and receiving encouragement from friends and family will keep you feeling positive and motivated!

How to get started:
- Use the BMI calculator on the NHS website, here, and fill in your details. The calculator will be able to advise on how much weight to lose and a recommended calorie intake to help you drop the excess pounds.
- NHS advice is to aim to lose 1-2lbs per week – so plan your challenge around this. There’s no time limit to the challenge, to make sure you lose weight at a healthy pace!
- Create a JustGiving page in aid of ELHT&Me and ask friends and family to sponsor your challenge! Click here
- Share your success and support others on social media using the hashtags #ELHTandMe and #LBstoPounds
This challenge is intended for use by healthy adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 and over and is not suitable for children and young people or pregnant women. If you have a medical condition, consult your GP before starting on any weight loss program.
