Education Centres
DERI manages two Education Centres – the Training and Development Centre at Burnley, and the Learning Centre at Park View, Blackburn. A selection of classrooms, seminar rooms and lecture theatres are available across both sites, all equipped with projectors, a computer, speakers and comfortable seating. Rooms are available to book for training activity.
In addition, there is a clinical skills suite and a practical training room available to book at Blackburn, and a Simulation Ward (Ward 18) and a fully equipped Safer Handling Suite at Burnley. There is also a discussion room at Burnley which is suitable for holding small meetings.

Corporate Trust Induction
All new starters at ELHT attend the Corporate Trust induction. They will learn about the Trust values and behaviour framework, as well as a whole range of useful information to support them with their on-boarding journey. They will receive a warm welcome from the team at the Learning and Development centre and will be supported to ensure they can access their core and mandatory training and are ready to start in their role at ELHT.

Core and Mandatory Training
At ELHT we recognise the importance of ensuring we have a fully skilled and trained workforce to deliver safe, personal and effective care for all patients. The Core and Mandatory training programme is a suite of courses that must be completed by all colleagues when joining the Trust. Compliance for these subjects is reported monthly and the Core Skills Team ensure that training remains current and in line with all national guidelines and requirements.

ELHT Education Hub
The ELHT Education Hub is our internal Learning Management System, where individual training records and compliance is recorded. You can also access our full suite of e-learning and blended learning courses, or book onto one of the many face to face training sessions taking place within the Trust.

Safer Handling
The Safer Handling training team are based at the Learning and Development Centre, Burnley, in the fully equipped training suite. The team deliver regular practical training sessions, including Facilitator updates and Facilitator Foundation courses.
