The Clinical Skills Team is responsible for providing evidence-based training to all ELHT employees. We are committed to working in partnership with clinical staff to deliver a patient-centred approach to our training courses.

Simulation Team

‘Simulation is an educational modality where a real, life task, event or experience is recreated, with the aim of providing a safe learning environment for the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and behaviours’ (MacKinnon, 2009)

This also extends to digital learning experiences and is seen as tool that can supports workforce development, patient safety, organisational development, and communication.

The DERI Simulation Team is happy to support, design, and help you to deliver your Simulation Training; whether you’re a novice or an expert, having delivered simulation-based training before.​​​​​​​

Resuscitation Team

The Resuscitation Team is responsible for developing and delivering a wide range of training in all aspects of clinical skills, care of the critically ill, and resuscitation, be it for newborn, children or adults.

The team is responsible for policy and procedures relating to resuscitation, defibrillators, resuscitation equipment and audit. We respond to cardiac arrest calls when able and are involved in debriefing. We work together with the Clinical Audit department to collect and analyse data for the Cardiac Arrest audit and Lessons Learnt.

All of our team members are ALS instructors and have both clinical and educational expertise. They continue to work clinically, and work to the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.

Multi-Professional Preceptorship Programme

ur Multi-Professional Preceptorship Programme is a period of structured transition which aims to welcome and integrate newly registered professionals into their new team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. Our objective is to help these professionals translate their knowledge into everyday practice, grow in confidence, and understand how to apply the code in their profession.

Preceptorship can also be access if you are in a workforce transition as part of your ongoing development and support. This could be in your current specialty, accessing a second register or retire and return professional.

It is built around the trust core values of providing safe, personal and effective care and developing transitional competencies to support Preceptees through their first year of registration and beyond. Completing our Preceptorship Programme enables our Preceptees to transform from students to autonomous practitioners with ease
