Our team

Nurses: During your stay you will be allocated a nurse every day who will care for your child. All our nursing team are available to help and to answer any questions you may have.

Doctors: Your child will be seen by a doctor every day. There is a ward round every morning starting at around 9.30am.

Play team: There is a dedicated play team for the children consisting of hospital play specialists and nursery nurses. For older children we have an education service where children can attend school on the ward and our school teacher will liaise with their schools to ensure their education is continued.

Our Play team is available to provide toys, books, paints and other activities to help make your child’s stay as pleasant as possible. They also provide distraction during investigations and procedures.

They can help to prepare your child for theatre should they need an operation.

Other professionals: You may meet our Phlebotomy team (bloods and cannulas), Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Anaesthetists, Theatre staff and specialist nurses.

Your experience

Your feedback is important to us. Please ask a member of the ward team for a feedback form. We value your opinion, whether positive or negative and always welcome feedback which may help us improve our service.

We have PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison service) and call for concern service, however if you have a concern or wish to make a complaint, please ask to see the Ward manager or senior nurse in the first instance. Our aim is to resolve any issues whilst you are in hospital.

We have a zero-tolerance attitude towards violence or aggression of any kind at our trust. This includes verbal and physical abuse. Please RESPECT all members of our staff. They are here to help.
