What is an Orthosis?
An Orthosis is an external device used to support, align, reduce or correct deformities.
Why do my orthoses need repairing?
Your orthotic devices will show signs of wear and tear the longer you wear them. Keeping your orthosis in good condition will improve the effectiveness of them over a longer period of time.
Can you replace my orthoisis when it has worn out?
We are able to replace devices that are beyond economical repair. However, replacing your devices may take longer than repairing them. Your device is also very expensive and repairing your device is more cost effective.
What can be repaired?
We are able to repair:
- Fastenings - buckles, straps etc
- Sole units and footwear adaptions
- Insoles
- Loose stitching on braces and other devices
How do I arrange getting my orthosis repaired?
Please bring your device into one of our clinics at Blackburn, Burnley or Accrington. Our administration team will take your goods and the orthotic assistant will process your repair order.
When will I know my goods are ready?
You will receive a letter from us explaining that your device is ready to collect.
How long does it take for my repairs to be completed?
Repairs can take between 2-4 weeks. This may take longer depending on the complexity of the repair.
Can I get my repairs done somewhere else?
You can get your repairs done privately. We do however advise you to use the department’s repair service if your shoes have external sole adaptions so that the adaptions are maintained and are correct.
