An event is taking place in Pendle on Sunday for families who have experienced the heartache of losing a baby.

Families are invited to the Service of Light, where they can light a candle and remember their baby.

It will take place at Christ Church, 15 Cross Street, Nelson, BB9 7LE on Sunday, 3 December at 2pm.

The event has been organised by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and representatives from the Maternity Unit and Chaplaincy will be on hand to offer support, including a Bereavement Specialist Midwife and a Nurse Specialist Sonographer from the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.

Andrea Parkinson, Nurse Specialist Sonographer at the Trust, said: “Experiencing the loss of a baby or child is very painful and we want parents to know that they are not alone.

“The Service of Light is an opportunity for us all to come together and remember the lives of babies who have gone too soon.

“Colleagues will also be on hand if anyone needs any support or just wants to talk.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the service and there is no need to book.

If you are unable to attend but wish for a candle to be lit on your behalf, please email andrea.connor@elht.nhs.uk.

Refreshments and memorial books will be available following the service.
