East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust will be commemorating Armed Forces Day with a community event at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
On Thursday, 22 June the Trust’s Armed Forces Veterans team will take over the main entrance to Blackburn site. There will be stalls from Royal British Legion, Blackburn Rovers Football Club, 207 Squadron, 206 Field Hospital Reserves, 4 Lancs Reserves and Healthier Heroes, as well as a display of military vehicles.
The event, taking place from 10am to 3pm, is open to patients, colleagues and members of the public, as part of the Trust’s support of the Armed Forces community.
Last year it was recognised with Veteran Aware Status and the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.
Fiona Lamb, Armed Forces Veteran Lead at East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, said: “We are immensely proud of the support we give to members of the Armed Forces community who find themselves in our hospitals – and we’re also proud to welcome ex-servicemen and women with open arms to join our team at ELHT.
“Armed Forces Day is a chance for us to say thank you and remember the sacrifices made by all those who have served or are currently serving.
“On Thursday there will be something for everyone, including stalls from some of our fantastic partners, a display of military vehicles and even NHS and Armed Forces cupcakes. We hope to see as many people as possible throughout the day.”
Armed Forces Day is a chance for communities to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, whether that is currently serving troops, service families, veterans or cadets.
