NHS East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is seeking the views of people who use, or have used the East Lancashire Intensive Home Support Service (IHSS).

IHSS looks after people over 18 years of age within their own home and is provided by a team of nurses, therapists, and social care staff. It aims to prevent a hospital admission where possible for people who have a sudden deterioration/change in health. When appropriate, the service supports patients for a short period of time following discharge from hospital. The service works alongside other community health and social care services to agree ongoing care plans as required. The service is available 8.00am to 10.00pm, 7 days per week.

East Lancashire CCG is responsible for commissioning (buying) health care services on behalf of local people and it is reviewing the service as part of its ongoing work to ensure that it is meeting the needs of patients who use it. The CCG commissions East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) to deliver the Intensive Home Support Service, to patients living in East Lancashire.

Dr Santhosh Davis, local GP and Integrated Care Lead at the CCG said:

“Our overarching aim is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes and the quality of care for our population. We have a unique opportunity, in undertaking service reviews to do so in partnership with patients and the public. By listening to people’s views about the Intensive Home Support Service we can use this information to develop and improve the service so that it really meets  the needs of patients.

“We are asking people, about their experiences and views of this service as part of a wider stakeholder engagement campaign called ‘Your Services, Your Say’.”

People who have used this service (as a patient or carer), or with any experience of the service, for example as a health or social care professional are encouraged to submit their views on the following three questions:

1. What do you like about the service?
2. What, if anything could we do better?
3. Is there anything else you would like to tell us about the service?
