Ward Clerk Heather Jenkinson has been rewarded for pulling double duties at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital by receiving East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust’s (ELHT) ‘Employee of the Month’ award for December.

In addition to a heavy workload on the ever-busy Coronary Care Unit (CCU), busy bee Heather volunteered to help out on Ward B18 while the usual Ward Clerk was off work.

“Heather has not only been completing her workload on CCU but has also been going to B18 on a daily basis to help clear the backlog of work building up,” says her colleague, Staff Nurse Jo Wright.

“Her professionalism, commitment and dedication deserve to be recognised with the Employee of the Month award.”

Heather also played an important role in the Coronary Care Unit’s recent nursing inspections, gathering a mountain of information for inspectors that helped to earn the ward the green light in three separate inspections.

“Heather is a fantastic Ward Clark and invaluable member of our team,” says ELHT Chief Executive, Kevin McGee.

“Her colleagues tell me she is always professional, treats everyone with respect and nothing is ever too much for her.”

As Employee of the Month for December, Heather will now be shortlisted for the ELHT ‘Employee of the Year’ award to be presented at the Trust’s STAR Awards ceremony on 3 May.
