A small ceremony was held on Monday, 29 November to light-up Christmas at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
Darwen Brass Band played Christmas carols and our Interim Chief Executive Martin Hodgson welcomed the crowd and talked about our new Christmas tree. This year’s tree is brand new and has replaced the well-recognised tree at the main entrance of the hospital. Our Christmas Tree has been planted to grow with us through the years and create lots of memories.
Martin, alongside the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen and Santa Claus himself, pushed a plunger to light up the main entrance.
Darwen Brass Band played more beautiful carols to entertain the crowd, whilst Santa visited the Children’s Ward. Throughout the day, Play Leaders were helping our younger patients to write letters to Santa in anticipation of meeting him later that day. Santa ho ho ho-d his way to the play area to meet patients through the patio doors and collect their wish lists. After some photos and tips on how to stay on the good list, he promised to visit again in just a few weeks’ time.
ELHT&Me, the Trust’s official charity would like to thank Consort and Equans, Blackburn Round Table, Darwen Brass Band, our logistics team and to those who stayed and enjoyed the event.
