From Monday, 16 October 2023 East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) will be celebrating ‘Celebrating Community Services Week’ . The campaign will be a week-long focus on our community services and teams, explaining the breadth and importance of them, and celebrating our colleagues along the way.
Executive Director of Integrated Care, Partnerships and Resilience, Tony McDonald, shares his thoughts on the significance of this week and celebrates our community colleagues.
Celebrating community services week is a great opportunity to acknowledge, recognise and thank our community services and colleagues across our ELHT Family for the incredible work they do in delivering safe, personal and effective care.
Whether you're a District Nurse, Community Therapist, work in our treatment rooms, specialist community teams such as bladder and bowel, specialist palliative care or lymphoedema or across our community wards and intermediate care services including our Intensive Home Support Service, everyone’s efforts and support are vital and really appreciated.
It is also an opportunity to remind ourselves that as an integrated care organisation we work closely with our system partners such as social care, primary care, mental health and voluntary organisations.
Indeed, such is the depth of our partnerships, that some of those partners have colleagues embedded with us such as our Integrated Discharge Service and Intermediate Care Allocation Team to enable us to collectively provide the very best holistic and person-centred care and support to our patients and their loved ones.
So, a heartfelt thank you to each and every colleague right across our community services in all our clinical divisions and corporate services for all that you do. It is inspirational, it is recognised, it is valued and it truly makes a difference so please do take the opportunity to celebrate what you do over this week.
