Manisha Golash, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust will be climing Mount Kilimanjaro from 22 - 29 July with her family. Manisha, her husband Anurag Golash, a Consultant Urologist at Royal Stoke Hospital and their two children, aged 18 and 16, will climb 5,895 metres to the peak of the mountain, walking between six and eight miles, for up to eight hours a day, for seven days.
"We chose Kilimanjaro as it’s a climb where you don’t need any experience of mountaineering rather it is something you can train for. We are all training hard, my husband is now walking to work, the treadmill is in now in front of the TV to get training in, and I have joined gym (for the first time) to build up stamina!"
"It’s going to be tough, especially as the summit climb starts at midnight, we're going to need a lot of mental strength, but doing it for the reason I am passionate about will give me the motivation not to give up when it gets tough."
