We are an Integrated Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Integrated Therapy Assistant Team who provide assessment, treatment, discharge planning and onward referral for patients across the Orthopaedic wards at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Hospital. We work closely with our multi-disciplinary team colleagues to provide holistic care for our patients.
Referrals are made by health professionals to Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy via the NHS system called Cerner. Alternatively, health professionals can refer via an internal bleep system.
Clinical care is provided on the Orthopaedic Wards at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Hospital.
The Team is based on Level 1 in the Acute Therapy Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Area 7, Rehabilitation Department, Burnley General Hospital.
The Team provides occupational therapy and physiotherapy on weekdays with a limited service at weekends.
The Team is led by three Clinical Team Leaders and is made up of a mixture of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Integrated Therapy Assistants.
Physiotherapists (PT)
A physiotherapist will help you to improve your movement, manage pain, and recover from injuries or illnesses affecting your physical function.

These could include physical difficulties or problems with memory and thinking, vision, or sensation, and problems such as anxiety. They will work with you to practice and develop your skills and confidence.
Therapy Assistants
Work alongside our Therapy Team to assist in the delIvery of services supporting clinicians, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
