What Our Patients Say

Physio has been very good, helpful and polite. Also informed my daughter of what is happening as
promised which my daughter is very grateful.

I praise the staff 100%, first class, all attentive and helpful for me.

The help and support I received is second to none.

Extremely helpful and encouraging. Listened to what I had to say. Overall a friendly service. Their
encouragement improved my walking and mobility. Thanks for your help.

We are a large integrated Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Integrated Therapy Assistant Team who provide assessment, treatment, discharge planning and onward referral for patients across the Medical Wards. We work closely with our Multi-Disciplinary Team colleagues to provide holistic care for our patients.

You will access this service by being an inpatient at Royal Blackburn Hospital and the referrals are made by a health professional to Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy via the NHS internal system, Cerner.

Clinical care is provided on the Medical Wards at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. The Team is based on Level 1 in the Acute Therapy Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.

Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy on weekdays. There is a limited service at weekends.

Our Team is led by three Clinical Team Leaders and is made up of the following staff:

  Physiotherapists (PT)

A physiotherapist will help you to improve your movement,  manage pain, and recover from injuries or illnesses affecting  your physical function.

  Occupational Therapists (OT)

Work with you to identify things that make it hard for you to do what you want to do in life. These could include physical difficulties or problems with memory and thinking, vision, or sensation, and problems such as anxiety. They will work with you to practice and develop your skills and confidence.

  Integrated Therapy Assistants
Work alongside our Therapy Team to assist in the delvery of services supporting clinicians, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

Referrals for Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy from the medical team are only accepted from health professionals using the NHS Cerner system.
