Give a little, gain a lot - volunteer at ELHT&Me!

Volunteers form an integral part of the ELHT&Me team. Our volunteers raise significant funds, represent us at events and around the hospitals, support our office functions and raise the profile of ELHT&Me across the community.

Learn about the range of volunteer roles and discover what difference you will make.

ELHT&Me’s charity hub is located at the main entrance of Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and open Monday – Friday 9 - 4:30 pm.

The hub is a space for supporters to have a relaxed brew and conversation, purchase gifts, merchandise and much more.

Volunteers in our hub assist by helping to set up, meeting and greeting customers and supporters, selling goods using our till system, help with stock rotation and pricing and contributing valuable ideas.

There’s opportunity represent and promote the charity’s work in the community, attending events and cheque presentations, manning stalls at community events and inspiring others to fundraise for ELHT&Me.

Volunteers are required on an ad hoc basis to assist with bucket collections, bag packs and manning stalls at community events. Collections can take place at supermarkets, comedy nights and sporting events whilst community events can include anything from fashion shows to summer fairs to local music festivals. We have something to suit everybody!

One of the most fun volunteer roles with ELHT&Me is donning a wonderful costume and becoming Elmore the bear at fundraising activities. Elmore is responsible for entertaining, the occasional photo-call and spreading joy wherever he goes.

Elmore will be accompanied by a trained chaperone whose role is to escort characters and be the liaison between participant and character.

Additional information
All charity volunteer roles are required to seek Disclosure and Barring Services clearance (DBS). This check is designed to assist the Trust in making safe decisions around volunteer recruitment. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant becoming a volunteer; any applicant with a criminal record should inform volunteer services, who will risk assess each case on an individual basis. There will be no cost for this standard DBS check.
