Saturday 24th November at 10.30am in Thompson Park (Ormerod Road, BB11 3QW) to raise much needed funds to improve patient experiences across East Lancashire – what better way to start the festive season. Put on Santa suits and snowy white beards, hat or something festive and dash, skip, hop or simply stroll around the grounds of Thompson Park, all to raise money for ELHT&Me! It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned runner or prefer a stroll in the park, the event is for everyone. This popular yuletide event promises to be a ho, ho, ho

The Santa Stroll is not a competitive event and is open to all ages and abilities - the one-mile route is pram and wheelchair friendly. Please note that dogs are not allowed in Thompson Park.

Dress Code

Ideally, we would love everyone to be wearing a Santa Suit, hat or something festive, but please make sure you are warm enough, have a waterproof jacket if it’s raining, and are wearing comfortable, practical footwear.

Children

Please ensure children under the age of 12 are accompanied by an adult or they will not be able to participate.

Registration               

All participants must register on arrival.  Registration is taking place in the pavilion (please see the map provided for the location of this) you will be able to register from 10am. You will also be able to hand in your pack your pounds tubes or sponsorship when you register if you have collected them in advance.

Start/Route                

The Stroll starts at 10.30am and will follow an approximate 1mile route (2 laps) round Thompson Park.  Marshals in High Vis vests will be on hand to point you in the right direction! The event is not a race, we want you to have fun, so please complete it at a pace comfortable for you.

Finish/Refreshments

On signing out you will receive a certificate and will be offered a complimentary hot or cold drink and biscuit.

Toilets            

Toilets are available in Thompson Park, in the pavilion and near the children’s playground.

Pavilion

We will be selling our Christmas Raffle tickets in the Pavilion, where for just £1 a ticket you could win a ‘Grand for Christmas’.

Car Parking   

There is a new car park being installed in the park, please be aware that it may not have defined parking bays etc. in time for the event.  Parking is also available on the main roads around the park and at Bank Hall Park, off Queen Victoria Road

Most Important

This event is weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice.  It is your responsibility to check that the stroll has not been cancelled due to bad weather.  You can do this by:

  • Checking ELHT&Me’s Facebook and Twitter pages which will be updated regularly
  • Making sure you have given us an e mail address and/ or mobile phone number so that we can e mail or text you should the event be cancelled.

First Aid                     

There will be a First Aider on duty throughout the Stroll.  If needed then please inform a marshal or call the emergency number below and state the nature of the problem.
