Section 2 – Staff Training (Violence Prevention and Reduction / Conflict Resolution)
1. Please confirm what levels of conflict resolution conflict management Physical intervention Breakaway training (e.g., Level 1, 2, or 3) are provided to clinical staff.
Conflict resolution training is provided by ELHT. It is via the mandatory e learning system which is updated as required. Physical intervention training to industry good practise is provided for security staff and the clinical enhanced care support works, initially this is a 3-day training session with annual updates.
All Colleagues complete the level 1 Conflict Resolution as part of the Core Skills Training Framework.
We also offer Understanding and Managing Challenging Behaviour. This can be completed by anyone in the Trust, but emergency department and high-risk areas are encouraged to complete it. It is not a mandatory subject.
Do you have Security In house or Outside Agencies and the level of their Training in house security staff
Security is in-house. All security staff complete the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training with an external provider. This is completed over 3 days and is renewed every year. This is a mandatory part of the role for all security staff. Compliance is not yet reported on Trust wide, however this has gone through the internal process to become a mandatory subject for reporting compliance.

Section 3 – Training Compliance and Internal Standards
Please provide the current compliance rate (%) for each training level (1, 2, and 3) for the most recent reporting year.
Training is for all staff to attend; the learning hub logs all the information for conflict resolution training and would be available. Security staff are currently up to date and would require 100% as a department. Level 1 Conflict resolution training is currently 96%.

E learning standards and compliance rates have to be met, Managers monitor and manage the compliance rates to ensure staff training is completed.
Yes, current targets are achieved.
Section 4 – Training Delivery and Trainers
7. Please confirm who delivers the conflict management and physical intervention training (e.g., Trust- employed security trainers, external providers, or clinical educators).
In house trainers provide the training, by the Trust Security Trainer, who works within Security. There is one supervisor who is the internal trainer, he works alongside the ECSW trainer, and they deliver the training to new starters, a 3-day training package initially, and then an annual update for the trained staff, which is part of the industry good practise.
The training is placed on the department training tracker, which is managed and monitored so that we are compliant.
Understanding and managing Challenging Behaviour is delivered inhouse. Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression training was previously outsourced but is now delivered in house by qualified trainers.
