Q1. How many patients have received an iron infusion in the last 12 months?
A) Between 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, 1164 patients are recorded within the Patient Administration System as having a diagnosis code of Iron Deficiency Anaemia and a procedure code of Infusion of Therapeutic Substance.
Q2. How many patients have been treated with Monofer and how many with Ferinject?
Q3. What was the average weight of these patients?
Q4. How many patients required more than 1 gram of iron?
A) The information requested for Q2, 3 and 4 is not recorded within the Patient Administration System or the Pharmacy system. In this instance we rely on the exemption provided under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act as to find this information would require a manual search of patient records which would take longer than the 18 hours as specified under the act.
Q5. How many nurses and for what days and hours are your Iron infusion clinics available?
A) The Trust does not have a specific Iron Infusion Clinic. The infusion suite consists of 10 chairs and is manned by 3 trained nurses Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 20:00. The patients for all infusions are allocated dependant on clinical need, direct access etc. however if we do have more than usual numbers we make provision to open on a Saturday.
