What we do
The Paediatric Physiotherapy service provides physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people within the Pennine Lancashire area.
There a 3 core areas to our provision:
Neurodisability/developmental problems
The team provides physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-19 years who have any condition that affects their functional ability, gross motor movement, posture or physical skills development.
The service is child, young person and family focused. It aims to promote maximum independence and the ability of the child/young person to participate in family, school and social activities.
Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions
The team provides physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children from 0-15 years who may present with a variety of conditions affecting muscles, bones or joints.
You may be referred to our service via your GP or following attendance at the Urgent Care Centre. You can also self-refer via our email address or over the phone.
Respiratory conditions
The Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapy Outreach Respiratory Team (SPORT) provides physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-19 years with a range of respiratory problems such as Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchiectasis, or for those children who require ventilatory support.
You may also be seen by the physiotherapist if you have an acute illness such as a chest infection requiring admission to hospital.

Referrals to the service can be made by completing the referral form.

We also work in various clinics in schools and hospitals across Pennine Lancashire.
